Most foreign nationals require a visa to enter Nepal. Citizens of India, Bhutan, and Maldives do not need a visa. All other travelers must obtain a visa either on arrival or in advance from a Nepalese embassy or consulate.

Transit Visa – for travelers passing through Nepal to another country.
Tourist Visa on Arrival
Available at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and at certain land border crossings.
Valid for 15, 30, or 90 days.

30 days: USD 50
90 days: USD 125
Multiple entry is allowed for all durations.
Requirements for Visa on Arrival
Valid passport with at least six months validity from the date of entry.
Completed visa application form (available at entry points or online).
Passport-sized photo (usually 1–2).
Visa fee in cash (USD, EUR, or other major currencies).
Pre-Arranged Visa
Some travelers prefer to obtain their visa in advance at a Nepalese embassy or consulate to save time.
Application requires passport, photo, completed form, and visa fee.
